This double bill evening features saxophonist/flautist and violinist Tori Freestone with her trio featuring Tim Giles on drums and and Dave Manington on double bass as well as her duo with pianist Alcyona Mick featuring special guest Brigitte Beraha. The trio have released two albums on the Whirlwind Recordings label and the rapport the group have developed over the years has led to wide critical acclaim. They have performed at festivals and venues all over the UK as well as Italy Austria, Spain and Germany. The duo will be performing repertoire from their debut album 'Criss Cross' to be released on the Whirlwind Recordings label early 2018.  Tori and Alcyona's influences range from folk, Latin, Brazilian to free jazz and the vocal mastery of Brigitte Beraha adds an extra dimension to their already playful and interactive approach.

Tori and Alcyona formed their Duo in 2015 playing Monk tunes on a project in the Canary Islands, and were given their first platform at Manchester Jazz Festival in 2015.

In the duo setting Alcyona and Tori have a very spontaneous, interactive approach to playing, and like to follow whatever direction the music takes them in on the day, using the space to take risks and have fun, as well as explore the quieter tender moments that are created. The two share a large range of musical influences that fall not only within the jazz genre, including Brazilian music, English  folk,Latin,  Arabic, free playing, Monk and more, and the aim is to take the audience on an engaging journey through this sound world.

Their debut duo album includes the exciting and experimental vocalist Brigitte Beraha who uses her voice as an instrument and fits in perfectly with their sound. Brigitte agreed to join them as a special guest on their debut album recording in Udine, Italy after performing with them on a concert in London shortly before.

The three have known each other for years, working together on the London scene in many different ensembles including the London Jazz orchestra.

The duo is embarking on an Arts Council funded UK tour in the Spring 2018, coinciding with the release of their album 'Criss Cross' in March 2018 on transatlantic label Whirlwind recordings. They will also be performing in Germany, Italy and Slovenia.

Past performances have included features at Manchester, Marsden, and Lancaster Jazz festivals, the Vortex, Museo del Grifo in Lanzarote (Spain).

The album features original material, apart from 'Criss Cross' which was written by Thelonious Monk, in the spirit of the origins of this project.
