For our penultimate concert of our 2023 monthly residency, NML presents three artists who are firmly stamping their mark on the UK country scene: award winning Anglo – Austrian duo Two Ways Home who have shared a special relationship with NML since our inception in 2016 and Northern Ireland singer songwriter Shea Rafferty who is gaining much media attention following the release of his second album ‘Making History’. Third act to be announced shortly.

Two Ways Home

Anglo – Austrian duo Two Ways Home are the songwriters: Isabella MaK (Vienna) and Lewis Fowler (Gloucestershire). The pair fuse catchy melodies with luscious harmonies and rocky guitars, often referring to their style as folk/rock with a country twist. After their inception in 2014 and several releases, they have crafted a sound, which pairs well with artists like Lady A, The Lumineers and Fleetwood Mac.

Since the release of their first EP back in 2015, Isi and Lewis have established themselves as firm favourites on the British Country/Americana scene, having shared stages with the likes of Phil Vassar and Ward Thomas as well as performing at popular festivals such as Nashville Meets London and The Long Road. They were nominated for best duo/band at the BCMA awards two years running (2021 and 2022) and won best UK Country duo at the Country Music Spotlight Awards back in 2020.

Shea Rafferty

2022 was monumental for singer-songwriter Shea Rafferty. In a year in which the Northern Irishman launched his second album, 'Making History', he landed on RTÉ Radio 1’s Recommended List, earned high praise from the likes of Matt Spracklen at Absolute Country, Iain Anderson at BBC Scotland and Ralph McLean of BBC Ulster. He was play-listed continuously on ARC Radio, and if that wasn't all enough, he capped it all off with a sell out UK tour, performing iconic venues such as The 100 Club in London, The Fleece in Bristol, Oran Mor in Glasgow and Manchester Academy. Produced by Tim Prottey-Jones with a cameo from Jonny Quinn (Snow Patrol) on drums, Shea's latest record acted as a major springboard to his musical career, and saw him confirmed as one of this year's headliners at The British Country Music Festival 2023.

Jonny Morgan
