What Would Julie Do? Live

Event Has Passed

Last Show: Sunday 21 st October 2018

The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

‘What Would Julie Do?’ blogger, Rosie Williamson returns to the Pheasantry with an all new evening of musical theatre therapy. West End leading lady Gloria Onitiri (The Bodyguard, The Lion King) joins Rosie and emerging Musical Theatre Artists to perform much loved show tunes, new musical theatre numbers and modern twists on Julie Andrews’ classics. They will share ideas about how to solve problems (like Maria), find the fun (until even the dullest job is a game), and tell you about a few of their favourite things.

“What Would Julie Do? Live” aims to entertain as well as raise awareness about the importance of good mental health and wellbeing. The theme for October’s show is relationships and self-love and there will be a retiring collection for the DVIP (Domestic Violence Intervention Project) and 10% of profits will be donated to the charity.

“Rosie Williamson creates a wonderfully pleasant evening…No two shows are the same, performing different material each time with reworked lyrics for topical or comedic value…A hugely funny ‘How Do You Solve a Problem Like Self-loathing’ was also worked into the set with all three [performers] singing in harmony and taking solo lines, – the audience, meanwhile, was in stitches.” - Musical Theatre Review

“If you’re looking for some self-help and positivity in your life, look no further than to this cabaret gem.” - West End Wilma

Gloria Onitiri is currently rehearsing for Hadestown at The National Theatre as one of The Fates. Previous credits include: Ida Arnold in Bryony Lavery's Brighton Rock (National Tour), Cruella Devil in Debbie Issitts 101 Dalmations (Birmingham REP), Katerina in The Taming Of The Shrew (The Globe), Duchess Josiana in The Grinning Man (Bristol Old Vic), Francine/ Lena in Clybourne Park (National Tour), Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard (Adelphi), Nala in The Lion King (Lyceum), Dotun in The Window (C4), Marcia Jones in Bad Girls (ITV), Donna in Grass (BBC) and Jacky in Resurrecting The Street Walker (Scala Films).

Singer and Actress, Rosie Williamson has long been compared to Mary Poppins, but outward appearances can be deceiving: She is, like most of us, far from practically perfect in every way. Rosie often takes hypothetical advice from the guru of musical theatre perfection, the superstar, the legend that is…Dame Julie Andrews. Whenever she is in a stew, she asks: “What Would Julie Do?”

Rosie founded her blog “What Would Julie Do? A Practically Perfect Guide to Living” in 2016; combining her passions of musical theatre, self-help and good humour, she shares her musings on living a happier, healthier life; inspired by Julie and other favourite things.

Join Rosie and friends for “What Would Julie Do? Live”, an evening of song, performed by rising and current musical theatre stars. They share stories and explain how show tunes can help make sense of our crazy lives. It promises to be a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious evening of musical theatre treats.

“The harmonies, sprinkled across the first half and then at both ends of the second, were beautiful – a real pleasure and delight to listen to.” ***** -  Chris Omaweng, London Theatre 1

"The re-worked songs hilarious but always respectful of their origins, What Would Julie Do? Live is a joyous evening full of laughter, tears and a reminder to look after yourself and each other." **** - Stuart James, theatre blogger
