London Latin Jazz Fest 2023

The London Latin Jazz Fest, now preparing for its 10th anniversary edition, brings a week of world class Latin and Latin jazz music to the exclusive, intimate atmosphere of PizzaExpress Jazz Club in the heart of Soho. Latin jazz began as a musical conversation between Latin musicians and the buzzing jazz scene of the US; today the genre continues to evolve by listening to the world, and the world listens back. New sounds emerge from cultures making music together; London being one of the most culturally diverse cities in the globe, the London Latin Jazz Fest's mission is to provide a unique opportunity to witness a line-up of sensational Latin Jazz musicianship in a globally minded setting. Asides from showcasing the best Latin Jazz from both the UK and beyond, the festival provides a space for unique collaborations by bringing together an array of world class artists for exclusive shows. This year, to celebrate the 10th edition, every single show brings an exclusive to the festival. Festival curator Eliane Correa opens the festival with long-time collaborator Cuban powerhouse vocalist Yadira Ferrer and a 7-piece band comprising some of the UK’s top Cuban musicians, to present a unique homage to the last 20 years of música alternativa in Cuba - a musical movement blending Cuban musics with jazz, funk and pop. On the Wednesday, London's established Brazilian ensemble Alvorada are joined by Brazilian genre-bending pianist Elizabeth Fadel for an evening of passionate and infectious choro from throughout the ages. On the Thursday, the new generation Latin jazz experimental fusion ensemble Bonita House Band present their debut EP live for the first time; on the Friday, Cuban piano legend Ramón Valle comes to the UK exclusively for the festival to perform with his trio alongside guest Maite Hontelé, one of today's stars of salsa and Latin jazz trumpet; on the Saturday, closing the festival, the fourth installment of AfroCuba:Jazz Sessions, where Hammadi Valdés brings his trio of Afrocuban percussion together with soulful UK-Bajan bassist and vocalist Isobella Burnham and her quartet, for a semi-improvised cross-cultural conversation.

Make sure to get your tickets early, as most shows sell out in advance.
